Here’s a look ahead to what God has in store for us this weekend at First!
Pray for Millie
God be praised for His grace to one of our members this week! Millie was alone in her apartment when she took a fall. Thankfully some of our folks noticed she was missing Sunday, so two ladies checked on her Monday and got her to the hospital. If you’d like to visit her, please contact the church office for details. In the meantime, please pray for a full recovery, and offer thanks for the watchful care of our Servant King.
If You Could Ask God One Question
Tonight is the last installment of our conversation, “If You Could Ask God One Question.” We’ll meet at 7pm at a restaurant on the Upper West Side. If you’re interested in joining the discussion, contact Matthew.
The ladies Bible study will start a series on James led by Elsie Cadet-Grieg, while the men continue their look at Mark’s gospel. Children’s classes are available. Join us Sunday at 9.30am. Reminder: there will be no Sunday school on Easter Sunday.
Sunday Worship Service
Here’s a look ahead at the songs we plan to sing Sunday morning.
- “Awake My Soul“
- “How High and How Wide“
- “I Run to Christ“
- “Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)“
- “Be Thou My Vision/Will You Guide Me?“
- “All I Have is Christ“
The sermon text will be Isaiah 23.
Holy Week Evensong Service
We will reflect on the great themes of Holy Week: Christ’s coronation, passion, and resurrection. The service is next Saturday the 28th at 7pm and includes vocal and instrumental solos, readings, and congregational singing. Plan to come with a friend!
Forward on Our Knees
As part of this year’s NYCityServe, a number of churches on the Upper West Side are teaming up to help PS 163 on 97th between Amsterdam and Columbus. Next Saturday the 28th, the school has an event and needs five people to help set up. We’ll meet at the school at noon to pray, then serve until 2pm. If you’re interested, please contact Matthew.
Easter Offering and a Matching Gift
This year’s Easter Offering will benefit the boiler fund. We’re about $50,000 away from being able to sign a contract on the work. To that end, a sister church has made a very generous gift: they have given us a $25,000 matching gift. That means if we can raise $25,000 by April 15, they’ll match it for a total of $50,000! God be praised for their extraordinary generosity! So let us pray fervently and give generously to meet this goal.
Baptism and New Members Class
Want to know more about baptism? Considering becoming a member of our church? Classes for both baptism and membership will be offered soon. Please contact Matthew or Gordon.
See you Sunday!
