This Weekend at First (9/11/15)

Here’s a look ahead to what God has in store for us this Sunday:

New Members Class

Our class for prospective members begins Sunday morning at 9.45am and lasts four weeks. We are also offering a one-night session that covers all the material. That will be next Friday, September 18, not tonight as was originally communicated. (Sorry for the confusion!) If you have any questions, please reply to this email, or contact Richard D. or Nick P.

Sunday School begins

Sunday morning at 9.45am we recommence our Bible classes for all ages. To help you prepare:

  • Parents, when you arrive, please take your children downstairs to Fellowship Hall, as the upstairs children’s classes have moved.
  • Women and men will meet in Gano Chapel to begin a nine-week combined study and discussion of the Theological Vision Matthew laid out for our church this summer. He’ll explain the format for this study Sunday morning.

Sunday worship music

Want to take our worship songs with you to work? Or maybe wish you could hear a new song again to know it better?

We’ve taken almost every song we’ll sing this fall and put it on a free Spotify playlist. You can listen online by going to www.tinyurl.com/Fall2015atFirst. You can also download the Spotify app for your smartphone, tablet, or computer, and search for “Fall 2015 at First.”

Worship this Sunday

This weekend we plan to sing the following songs:

  • “All Creatures of Our God and King”
  • “Behold Our God”
  • “There is No Sin That I Have Done” (a new song)
  • “Grace Unmeasured”
  • “In Christ Alone”
  • “Be Thou My Vision”

The sermon text will be Isaiah 40.1–11.

Sunday Service Teams

This fall we are launching ten different Sunday service teams to shoulder ministry at First together. Included in today’s order of worship is a detailed list of these teams. Please prayerfully read through it and sign up using the cards on the back table. In particular, please note:

  • We need more volunteers for Children’s Discipleship. Please see Caleb Kobosh immediately if you are interested.
  • We’re looking for those interested in reading Scripture or leading public prayers, as well as musicians for the Worship Team. Please contact Steve M. for more details.

Hope to see you Sunday!
