This Weekend at First (10/2/15)

We’re looking forward to the grace God has prepared for us this weekend as we gather to worship His great name! Here’s a look ahead to help you prepare.

Schedule for This Sunday

  • 9.45am — Sunday school for all ages

Please note: we will begin another iteration of the New Members Class this weekend

  • 10.40am — pre-service prayer time
  • 11am — Sunday worship service
  • 12.30pm — Advisory Board meeting

To help you prepare for Sunday worship

Matthew’s sermon text will be Isaiah 53.1–2. We plan to celebrate the Lord’s Table as part of our worship.

  • Saturday, October 17 at 10am: Church work day

We’re looking forward to transitioning Gano Chapel into an Archives Room for our church. For this to happen, we have to finish painting in there. So come dressed to get messy on Saturday, October 17 at 10am! See Winston for details.

  • Sunday, October 18 at 12.30pm: Monthly fellowship meal
  • Sunday, October 18 at 1.30pm: Quarterly congregational meeting
  • Wednesday, October 28 at 7pm: Dinner and service with Gregg Matte

Over the past few years, Houston’s First Baptist Church has been an enormous partner with us in the gospel. Their pastor, Gregg Matte, will be here in a couple of weeks. Irma is preparing a dinner for us to enjoy, then Gregg will challenge us from God’s Word. Please sign up if you plan to attend.

  • Sunday, November 1 at 9.45am: Class on Christian baptism

We plan to celebrate baptism Thanksgiving Sunday, November 22. We’ll offer a one-week class on Sunday, November 1 for those who are interested. Contact Matthew for details.

  • Saturday, November 21: Operation Christmas Child packing party
