This Weekend at First (10/9/15)

We’re looking forward to worshiping together this holiday weekend. Here are a few things to help you get ready:

Schedule for This Sunday

  • 9.45am — Sunday school

This includes classes for children, the combined adult study looking at Our Theological Vision, and the New Members Class. Please note: a new class for Jr. and Sr. High students begins this weekend!

  • 10.40am — pre-service prayer time
  • 11am — Sunday worship service

 

To help you prepare for Sunday worship

Here are the songs we plan to sing:

  • “I Sing the Mighty Power of God”
  • “There is a Higher Throne”
  • “Merciful God”
  • “What a Savior” (a new song, you can listen to it here)
  • “Beneath the Cross of Jesus”
  • “And Can it Be?”

Matthew’s sermon text will be Isaiah 42.1–17.

We’re planning to finish painting in Gano Chapel. So come dressed to get messy on this Saturday at 10am! See Winston for details.

  • Sunday, October 18 at 1.30pm — Quarterly congregational meeting
  • Wednesday, October 28 at 7pm — Dinner and service with Gregg Matte, pastor of Houston’s First Baptist Church

Houston’s First Baptist Church has been a great partner with us in the gospel. Their pastor, Gregg Matte, will be here in a couple of weeks. We’ll enjoy dinner, then Gregg will challenge us from God’s Word. Please sign up if you plan to attend.

  • Sunday, November 1 at 9.45am — Class on Christian baptism

We’ll offer a one-week class on baptism Sunday, November 1 for those who are interested. Contact Matthew for details.

  • Saturday, November 21 — Operation Christmas Child packing party
