Good morning! We are eager to see all that our God will do for our church in the coming year.
Here’s what we have planned for this weekend. Let’s pray for the Spirit’s blessing as we celebrate our Savior, Jesus Christ!
Sunday at 9.45am: Sunday School resumes
Our Bible classes for all ages begins again after a two-week break for the holidays. The ladies meet in Gano Chapel, the men in Haldeman Chapel, and the children downstairs. Classes begin at 9.45am.
Sunday at 10.40am: Pre-service prayer time
Please join us for a time of prayer for the worship service before it begins.
Sunday at 11am: Worship Service
Here are the songs we plan to sing:
- “All Creatures of Our God and King”
- “Ten Thousand Reasons (Bless the Lord)”
- “There is No Sin That I Have Done”
- “Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone)”
- “How Firm a Foundation”
- “O Great God”
To hear these songs and more, go to our free Spotify playlist and listen.
The sermon text will be Isaiah 49.1–13.
After the service there will be a meeting of the Advisory Board in the Conference Room.
Season of Fasting and Prayer
Beginning next Sunday, January 17, we will observe our annual Season of Fasting and Prayer. For those of you who are new, we take a week at the start of the year to seek the Lord’s face together as a congregation. All who are physically capable are encouraged to sacrifice one meal each day that week and to invest that meal time instead in prayer. Please consult a medical professional if you have any questions about whether you should so participate. Additionally, there will be prayer events around the city. A list of these events will be available on the 17th. Please join this crucial opportunity to confess our great weakness and to cry out for God’s even greater power to be demonstrated in, for, and through our church.
Worship Team Vision Casting Dinner
If you would like to serve during our Sunday worship services, please make your plans to attend a dinner at the church Saturday, January 23 at 6pm. This includes people of a wide variety of interests: from instrumentalists, singers, and worship leaders, to audio-visual volunteers and setup/teardown crews. Please contact Steven Mann for more information.
Annual Congregational Meeting
It’s that time of year again: time to look back on God’s provision in 2015 and to plan for 2016. The Annual Meeting will be held Sunday, January 24 after morning worship, and all members are encouraged to attend. Lunch will be provided, and the Meeting will begin shortly after everyone is served.
Reminder: if you are writing a report for the Annual Meeting, it is due this Sunday.
Joy Davidman Book Event
Join us Friday, January 29 at 7pm, for a conversation with the author of the new critically-acclaimed biography of Joy Davidman, the wife of C. S. Lewis. The evening will begin with a talk by the author, Abigail Santamaria, about Ms. Davidman, which will be followed by an audience question-and-answer session. Afterwards you can meet the author, purchase your copy of Joy, and have it signed. This is a great opportunity to invite your friends from the neighborhood to our church. Promotional cards will be available in the lobby and in the Chapel this Sunday.
Looking forward to worshiping together Sunday!
